Bhubaneswar, Feb 7 (NationPress) Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday presented appointment letters to 6,390 qualified candidates across nine different government departments during a Nijukti Mela (Job Fair) hosted at the Capital High School Ground.
On this day, CM Majhi allocated 2,878 appointment letters for various vacant positions within the Health & Family Welfare Department.
Moreover, 2,767 letters were issued under the School & Mass Education Department.
In his speech at the event, CM Majhi emphasized, “A competent and quality human resources pool is essential to enhance and expedite the development process.”
He further stated that the BJP government has issued appointment letters to over 26,000 individuals during seven Nijukti Mela events held over the past seven months.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the government targets to fill 65,000 vacant positions in various departments within the next two years.
“A government job is not merely a means of livelihood; it also serves as a vital medium for public service. Citizens, hopeful of resolution, approach government offices for assistance. It is your duty to address their concerns,” Majhi explained.
“You bear the responsibility at the grassroots level, and I strongly believe you will fulfill your duties effectively. I encourage all of you to serve the common people,” he added.
Additionally, CM Majhi highlighted that his administration is actively working to boost employment in the private sector through initiatives such as Utkarsh Odisha.
He expressed that the government aims to attract investments amounting to around Rs 5 lakh crore to generate over 3.5 lakh job opportunities at this year's Utkarsh Odisha event. The state has received investment proposals totaling Rs 17 lakh crore due to the double-engine government and the direct involvement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who inaugurated the Utkarsh Odisha event on January 28.
Out of the proposals received during the event, MoUs were signed for 145 proposals, amounting to over Rs 13 lakh crore in investments, expected to generate 10 lakh job opportunities.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government's commitment to prioritizing employment to achieve the vision of transforming Odisha into a prosperous state by 2036 and a key player in a developed India by 2047.
The government has set a goal to provide 1.5 lakh jobs in the public sector over the next five years.
